RJR News understands that some of the 1,600 workers whose positions have been made redundant at Air Jamaica have already collected their severance packages.

Air Jamaica is today paying out US$24 million or approximately J$2.4 billion to all workers.
Some of the workers have been rehired by Trinidad's Caribbean Airlines, which takes over what was Jamaica's national carrier on Saturday.
Nobles deny union busting
In the meantime, Bruce Nobles, the President and Chief Executive Officer of Air Jamaica, has reacted to unions' claims that there is some level of union busting in the take over of the Lovebird by Caribbean Airlines.
On Thursday, unions said that none of the union delegates of Air Jamaica was given contracts with the new entity, CALAirJamaica Transition Limited.
Bruce Nobles, Air Jamaica CEO.But Mr. Nobles Friday morning on Television Jamaica's magazine programme, Smile Jamaica, insisted that this could not be further from the truth.
"It's not correct that no union delegates have been retained. We were not involved in the selection process and as any company coming in to hire employees, Caribbean Airlines when through a selection process ... they did psychometric testing, they had interviews and a number of different things.
"We did not select the employees going forward, that was done by Caribbean Airlines," he said.
Best people hired by C'bean Airlines
And Mr. Nobles said effective Saturday, there will be no union at Air Jamaica, because all the contracts have been terminated.
He also reiterated that the selection process was above board.
"Caribbean Airlines have told that they hired the people they thought were the best people in going forward and they absolutely did not target specific groups including union delegates in anyway. A number of union delegates have been offered jobs and some have not but that's true for the organisation structure from the top to the bottom," Mr. Nobles said.
